Clothing and shoes (do not use cotton but quick-drying material and/or wool)
- Hiking shoes of at least category B and waterproof
- Water shoes or lightweight shoes
- Hiking clothing
- T-shirts with short sleeves, at least two
- Shirts with long sleeves, at least two
- Extra midlayer shirt or vest
- Warm layer (down jacket or synthetic)
- Long hiking pants
- 2 or 3 pairs of hiking socks
- Buff and/or beanie
- Gloves if the weather gets chilly
- Waterproof jacket and pants (preferably Gore-Tex 3-layer)
Gear
- Hiking backpack of 60 liters or more
- Rain cover for backpack
- Hiking poles are recommended
- Headlamp plus extra batteries or rechargeable
- Sleeping bag (3-season, comfortable to 0 / 3 °C)
- Sleeping mat (3-season)
- Water bottles / soft flasks with at least 2 liters capacity (suggestion: a 1 liter Nalgene bottle)
- Lightweight cutlery: fork, spoon and knife
- Lightweight mug
- Waterproof bags for everything that has to stay dry
- Small sitting pad
- Gaiters
- Small microfiber towel
Personal care
- First aid kit with blister plasters, band aids, emergency blanket, sports tape, etc.
- Optional sunscreen
- Medicines if applicable
- Toiletries, lip balm, toothbrush, etc.
- Personal hygiene items
- Toilet paper
