Wild Roots
Meet traditional lifestyles, original skills and indigenous peoples with their ancient wisdom. Travel to places where nature and culture are inseparable and where outdoor living in harmony with the environment is still normal.
Group tours with a cultural twist
Wild Roots trips are trips to places where nature, culture and tradition are intertwined, intended for people who want to get to know a place more deeply and not just experience the landscape. We organize these trips in cocreation with local residents to create an authentic experience. Different from each other but together with each other, we immerse ourselves in life on site. Curiosity prevails.
Group tours with a cultural twist
We integrate cultural, traditional and authentic site-specific elements into the trip. Not a retreat or tourist excursion, but creating a shared experience together with local guides, herders and families. Small, personal and respectful of the place where we are guests. No mass tourism or mapped out marked routes but creative in composite enriching experiences.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have questions about our trips, practicalities or our story? In these frequently asked questions, you’ll find the answers quickly and easily.
What is the difference between a Wild Roots trip and a regular group adventure trip?
A Wild Roots trip combines physical challenge with cultural depth. You not only trek through a landscape, but also learn of local communities and traditional ways of life.
Are Wild Roots trips physically demanding?
Most trips require a good basic fitness level. We trek for several days on foot or with luggage through mountain or desert areas. For each trip, the level is clearly indicated.
Is contact with local communities part of the trip?
Yes. Whenever possible, we work with local guides, shepherds or families. Respect and reciprocity are key.
How large are the groups during a Wild Roots trip?
We travel in small groups to ensure personal interaction and minimal impact on the environment.
Are these trips suitable for people without experience in remote areas?
Basic experience with multi-day treks is recommended, but more important is your attitude: open, flexible and willing to let go of comfort.
