Winter expedition Finnish Lapland

The Trip
Completely off-the-grid we trek through the rugged, silent Arctic north of Finnish Lapland. In this untamed landscape you will learn everything you need to move independently in winter: staying warm, camping in the snow, navigating, making fire and using your skis as a means of transportation. On the road, things are simple but hard work. We get up, have breakfast, fill the thermos flasks, break camp, and load up the sled. Then we ski all day to reach our nighttime accommodation: a cabin or tent in the wilderness.
Meanwhile, it can get chilly here. Sometimes the temperature can even drop below -20 degrees. But no need to worry! You will find that with the right techniques, actions, clothing and equipment, you will stay wonderfully warm even when camping in the snow. And with any luck, you’ll do so under a cinema of the Northern Lights. A beautiful phenomenon that occurs regularly in this region.
Enthusiastic but in doubt whether you can do this? Then contact us, we will be happy to advise you on this!

Theme and levels
The theme of this trip is Wild Skills. These trips are for people who want to learn more about wilderness skills. Have you ever been on a winter trek before? Don’t worry! Prior to the trip, we will organize a meeting to explain how you can stay warm and dry during this winter expedition. When you know the tips and tricks of a winter trip, you can enjoy the endless winter views, sunsets, and wildlife. Finland has no mountains, but it does have fells. This means you don’t have to be able to ski on black slopes to join in. Fortunately, this also means that avalanche danger is not an issue here! You do pull your own sled, though. Fortunately, it gets lighter every day, but it is advisable to do strength training at the gym or train by dragging a car tire behind you. Furthermore, a flexible and adventurous attitude is essential for this trip. Experience with (wild) winter camping or Wild Human is an advantage, but not essential.
