Wild Alps Winter
The Trip
Spend a week in the French snow! Far away from all the hustle and bustle of the slopes, we will take a wonderful ramble through the mountains and learn all about wilderness skills in a winter setting. We walk on snowshoes through snowy forests and over peaks above the tree line. We get to know the local wildlife and learn to identify animal tracks. You will learn to make your own shelter in the snow, how to navigate with map and compass and how to make fire with natural means. Furthermore, you will learn all about avalanche safety and dealing with the cold. The nights on this trip are adventurous. We sleep in remote mountain huts and a snow cave. In short, an unforgettable adventure.
Experience with snowshoes is a plus but certainly not required. However, it is desirable to be in good shape: long journeys through fresh snow and winter conditions can make conditions physically challenging. Furthermore, a flexible and adventurous attitude is indispensable for this trip and important for a winter trip like this is also the right equipment. More information can be found in the trip brochure.

Theme and levels
The theme of this trip is Wild Skills. These trips are for people who want to learn more about wilderness skills. Walking on snowshoes is not difficult. Experience is nice, but certainly not required. However, it is desirable to be in good shape: long trips through fresh snow and winter conditions can make conditions physically challenging. It may also be that there is actually less snow than expected. While trekking, please allow for a well-stocked 60-liter heavy backpack, with some safety equipment and group provisions in addition to your own on the first day. Furthermore, a flexible and adventurous attitude is indispensable for this trip. Experience with (wild) winter camping or the Wild Human trip is a plus, but not necessary.
