Sarek Traverse

The Trip
Join us on an extremely wild but serene traverse through Sarek National Park in Swedish Lapland. In the land of the semi-nomadic Sami people, we will traverse one of the most rugged areas of Europe. Sarek is not known as Europe’s last great wilderness for nothing. With no tourist infrastructure and almost no human signs, this is an untamed land where adventure awaits. This is where nature reigns supreme.
With the motto “less is more” and a fully packed backpack on our backs, we make our way through the wilderness with our own tented camp. Completely off-the-grid we pass glaciers and imposing mountains, wading through ice rivers wandering through alpine tundra and along ancient reindeer trails. With any luck, we’ll spot a herd of these characterful strong quadrupeds: the local Sami people here still live a traditional existence based on the seasonal migration of their reindeer. But reindeer are certainly not the only wildlife found in the park. The area is also home to brown bears, lynx, wolverine and the largest species of moose in Europe.
In September just before the spartan winter arrives, experience the definition of autumn and Sarek turns into a breathtaking palette of autumn hues. A perfect place to fully participate in the season and definitely not your everyday experience.

Theme and levels
The theme of this trip is Wild Fitness: the days are intense and physical. Not only do we move every day, but we also run the outdoor camp together. Along the way, things are simple but hard work. A daily move contains between 10 and 20 kilometers and can also increase in the number of altimeters. The terrain can be tough and sometimes impassable and moving is slow. In addition, the weather in Sarek is very unpredictable and it can rain heavily. In combination with the lack of shelter and a heavy load in the backpack, participation in this trip requires a good running condition and the right character. Being able to move well with a heavy load is not an unnecessary luxury and the right equipment is essential for this trip. Familiarity with arctic terrain is not necessary. We will guide you through this raw and untouched arctic landscape and provide you with the skills needed to move through the environment in comfort and self-reliance. Experience with (wild) camping, Wild Human is a big plus.
