Munro Bagging Scotland Winter

The Trip
Wild, raw, spartan and challenging. Winter in Scotland can be merciless. But also a mighty fine season to be out and about. The enchanting landscapes, the desolate wilderness areas, the authentic mountaineering and climbing culture – it makes the Scottish Highlands unique and an absolute Valhalla for winter adventures. Scotland has 282 Munros (peaks higher than 3,000 feet), all of which can be climbed.
Under the guidance of the Mountain Leaders, we (armed with crampons and pickaxes) will brave as many winter Munro’s as possible, through all weathers. Guaranteed physical challenge, endless tips and tricks, good morning coffee, a fresh nose and of course a lot of fun. Our accommodation during this adventure in the Highlands: a private cabin or Scottish Inn located in the wilderness. Simple, but you don’t get more atmospheric and cozy. From here we set out each day to “fast and light” bag the Munros. Not your everyday experience!

Theme and levels
The theme of this trip is Wild Fitness and a requirement is to be physically fit. We will walk about 7-9 hours per day with 1000-1500m altimeters. Experience in alpine environment and walking with crampons are a plus, but certainly not a must. The (technical) climbing level during the tours is up to Scottish “grade 1” without rope. Basic alpine rescue techniques, self-arrest, use of the pickel and crampons are part of the program.
