The Trip
Travel with us to the heart of the Middle East and experience the life of the original inhabitants: the Bedouin. A region where being a desert dweller is in the genes. Deep in southern Jordan near the border with Saudi Arabia, we immerse ourselves in perhaps the most insane desert landscape on earth. Together as a caravan with the Bedouins and their camels, we explore the Wadi Rum Desert, aka the “Valley of the Moon. Not just a nickname, because here you imagine yourself on another planet.
The Bedouins show us the best-kept secrets of the area. To climb, hike, camp, cook, stargaze and enjoy the sunset. We wander through desolate valleys with red and white sand dunes between towering rocks, we climb beautiful peaks, hike over natural rock arches and through colorful canyons. At night when the desert is at its serene best by a crackling campfire far from civilization camping under a million stars, you understand the significance of this place to the Bedouins and their persistence in the challenging lifestyle.
But not after starting our trip with a visit to the rock city of Petra to admire the 7,000-year-old trading city. You’ll find the remains and influences of historical generations such as the Nabateans and the Ottomans. Yalla!

Theme and levels
The theme of this trip is Wild Roots: a trip to a place where nature and culture are inseparable. We will live like and with the Bedouins. We will trek through the desert and hike about six to 10 hours daily. Sometimes plodding through sand, scrambling over rocks or maneuvering through gorges. Good basic fitness and experience with distance hiking in hilly terrain is desirable. Experience with (wild) camping or Wild Human is a plus, but not necessary.
