The Trip
In the category of natural wonders: the hinterland of Iceland. Because of its topographic location just below the Arctic Circle and geological features, Iceland’s landscape is “one of a kind. A hub of geothermal activity, with volcanoes, geysers and glaciers 360 degrees around you. But even in a country with an abundance of extraordinary nature, this part of the island stands out. Far away from the famous Icelandic Ring Road no.1, we trek the Icelandic backcountry completely self-sufficient with our tent camp. Mountain boots on, knapsack on the back and adventure in the lead.
Traversing this area is almost like wandering through a postcard. Our trek leads us through a massif of colorful rhyolite mountains, past ice caps and glaciers. Along the way, we cross several mountain passes, pass some fascinating canyons, ford wild rivers and pass spectacular waterfalls. The area is also home to a number of geothermal sites such as hot springs, mud pools and steaming rock formations powered by volcanic activity deep within the earth. Every landscape has its charms and Iceland’s backcountry has many.
On the trail in this terrain is by no means a retreat. Along the way, hands are going to be involved, because our shelter, equipment and food will not get from A to B on their own. And the camp does not run itself. Join alien rewilding in Iceland. Minimalist, physical and immensely satisfying.

Theme and levels
The theme of this trip is Wild Fitness: the days are intense and physical. Not only do we move every day, but we also run the outdoor camp together. Along the way, things are simple but hard work. A daily move contains between 10 and 20 kilometers and can also increase in the number of altimeters. The terrain can be tough and sometimes impassable and moving is slow. In this part of Europe, the weather is notoriously unpredictable: rain, snow and strong winds are possible throughout the year. Combined with the lack of shelter and a heavy load in the backpack, participation in this trip requires a good running condition, the right character and a bit of perspective.
Being able to move well with a heavy load is not an unnecessary luxury and the right equipment is essential for this trip. But we are here to guide you through this raw and untouched landscape and provide you with the skills needed to move through the area self-sufficiently and comfortably. Experience with (wild) camping and Wild Human in the Ardennes is a big plus.
