Last month, we traveled as a group for the first time to the Drakensberg, deep in eastern South Africa, on the border with the high-altitude country of Lesotho. Inhospitable, rugged, and one of the most unspoiled mountain regions on the continent. We set out on a wild camping trek right through the region, self-sufficient with everything we needed. We ended our journey in Lesotho for a glimpse into the lives of the local Basotho: a proud people who have lived here for centuries in deep connection with their horses, the land, and their traditions.
